Film Review Podcast: “Silver Linings Playbook” & “Smashed”

This morning you not only get two very perceptive reviews of two worthy films, but you also hear the most amazing statistic since . . . well . . . since the invention of numbers. Which is to say, since forever.
Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper are wunderbar in “Silver Linings Playbook.” So too Robert DeNiro, though it’s been so long since he really acted you might have forgotten why he’s DeNiro. This is an award quality motion picture.
“Smashed” is a riveting tale of a young married couple mired in their alcoholism. It is acutely observed, short and to the point.
Plus there’s that stat you won’t want to miss. And, at no extra charge, my rant about a rock & roll band that, once upon a time, was the best that ever was.

Hi, just wanted to give you some positive feedback – I saw Silver Linings Playbook in a theater solely on the strength of your review, and after seeing the movie, I have to say I agree with everything you said. I still haven’t seen Winter’s Bone (I’ll be looking for it tonight), and I saw Hunger Games the night before I saw Silver Linings. She is really something. I think they could have had some sex in the movie and it would have been better, but I guess I see why they didn’t. So thanks for at least one GREAT review!
